ROCKFORD — Two restaurants and an oil change business are slated to open in 2022 at the intersection of East State Street and Mill Road, according to the asset management company which purchased the site.
Chicago-based Core Acquisitions acquired the property in February for nearly $1.5 million and divided the parcel into two separate lots.
Mission BBQ and Five Guys will occupy a two-tenant 6,000-square-foot building on the east side of the property while Valvoline Instant Oil Change will open a store on the west lot, according to Core Acquisitions managing principal Adam Firsel.
The businesses are expected to open in the summer of 2022.
Mission BBQ was founded in 2011 and has locations across the country, including restaurants in Peoria, Springfield, Naperville and Gurnee.
The chain’s dining rooms feature a patriotic theme designed to honor men and women in the armed forces, firefighters, police officers and other first responders.
Five Guys is relocating from Perryville Crossing, 611 Highgrove Place, to the East State Street location.
Five Guys features made-to-order burgers, French fries and hot dogs.
The site is the former home of Rockford Area Realtors, which relocated to 1161 Tebala Blvd.
